Day 20: Encourage My Best Friend
Matt Murphy has been my best friend since Sophomore year of high school. We were neighbors, went to school together, accountability partners, roommates in college, and still talk almost every week. We don’t see each other much but that doesn’t dampen our friendship at all. My task today was just to call and encourage Matt. He started a church a few months back and has been running full-steam for a few months. In fact, he just returned from a missions trip and I didn’t even know he was going!

I did ask Matt to think through how I can encourage him in a larger way. He thought through it and ask that I come visit him and his church. I’m thinking a trip is in order this summer!

Day 21: Buy Coffee for Bob
Bob has become one of my closest friends over the past few years. We both work at Cedarville and attend church together. Bob is a little older and much wiser, so I consider him a friend and mentor all in one. We meet almost weekly for accountability and encouragement. Steph encouraged me to buy his drink this week as a way to encourage him. He and I will be golfing on my birthday!
Day 22: Make a Donation to the Gathering
Not much to be said here. I went online and made a donation. I talked about The Gathering in a previous birthday challenge post.
Day 23: Find a Way to Serve Our Neighbors
I was a little nervous about this one. It was going to take some initiative. We have amazing neighbors who are always hanging out, very kind, and a ton of fun. They are way more “neighborly” than I am, sad to say. It just so happened that I after I mowed my lawn I was talking to a neighbor whose mower was out of commission. So I was able to run over to his yard and mow his lawn. I would have missed this opportunity if I had not been looking to serve.
